The Ambassador of France to India, His Excellency Mr. François Richier said, “I am pleased to see the prestigious Paris Saint-Germain Academy being launched in India and have football legend Pauleta here for the occasion. It is timed perfectly given the growing interest in football I see here all across India. Football, a very popular sport in France where the UEFA Euro 2016 Cup will be organized, incorporates such values as team spirit and rigour. This Paris Saint-Germain program makes a significant step towards our collaboration with India in the domain of sports. I am confident that we will work closely and together for the youth of India and for the young Indian talents preparing for the U-17 World Cup in India”.

Founded in 2005, in collaboration with the club’s youth academy for the development of the technical program, the Paris Saint-Germain Academy offers all children between the ages of 5 and 16 years the unique opportunity of experiencing the Paris Saint-Germain world. With a football school in Paris that educates nearly 1,000 children, and with schools in Rio (Brazil), New York City (USA), Doha (Qatar) and Morocco, the Paris Saint-Germain Academy has developed a rich experience in transmitting its values and know-how to its students.

In the words of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Paris Saint-Germain President: “The opening of our Paris Saint-Germain Academy in India is an important stepping stone in the international development of our Paris Saint-Germain brand. It is a great opportunity to showcase the colors of Paris Saint-Germain in a country which has a growing passion for football. We are bringing our best experts to come and train some of the youth that maybe will become the stars of tomorrow. They had the chance to meet Pedro Miguel Pauleta, the greatest scorer in our club’s history. We look forward to welcoming our new Indians fans to the World of Paris Saint-Germain. We are also very happy to announce the launch of the first social responsibility program by the Paris Saint-Germain Foundation outside of France. It will take the form of a football league involving 850 children from unprivileged schools in Delhi NCR. We look forward to bringing these kids the joy and positive values of the game of football.”

In India, the authenticity of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy training program and its effective implementation are being managed by one of the club’s most experienced youth coaches, Technical Director Sacha Lizambard, who has shifted bases to India to work hands-on at the academies.

Rajesh Mehrotra, Director, Sports Roots said “The Paris Saint-Germain Academy is now officially present in India. It is a great opportunity for young Indian footballers to play the sport to the highest standards. Advanced training techniques and the presence of experienced international coaches will enable us to develop football qualitatively right from the grassroots level. We also implement a robust train-the-trainer program which will help raise the football coaching level amongst Indian coaches. Our first two academies are already set up and running in the Delhi NCR region. Our aim is to grow into eight academies across three regions within our first year here”.
